Robert Anton Wilson's Prometheus Rising starts this 8 system model with the thinker and the prover. For the purposes of the shaman - modern or otherwise - the shaman must always be thinking or dreaming. This process of validating one's own thinking (dream) is what makes the shaman the creator of self and the creator of realities or worlds.
Wilson has 2 chapters on the oral self and the anal self. The oral is equated to the mother instinct and self nurturing or finding substitutes. The anal is likened to the social or political instincts or how I would say or father teaches us how to nurture or cooperate with others.
Thinking and proving goes in the path or beside and on the path with both of these instincts. The shaman or all people to some degree should be able to attract to the oral zone or affect society with their shit according to their thoughts. Internal feelings and external reactions will affect the proving part of the process, allowing the shaman feedback whether their spells or rotes are working. Making the necessary adjustments is the Art or the science...
This is the basic means into how the shaman weaves magick and dreams a dream... I tell myself through the writing of this piece so I may get a better handle onto what I am thinking (dreaming) and consolidating for myself what my thinking is creating for me.
I like writing and externalising my shit in this way. It is a good feedback loop that has always worked for me. As a shaman I write and I weave small spells on my guitar.

Shapeshifting
One of the roles of the shaman is to shift energy and form. Shifting the shape of energy whether it be the energy comprising of people, objects, cultures, etc... is something that the shaman does from within. How each shaman does it is a matter of personal process, but working with energy and rerouting it in a way that affects material reality is what the shaman has always done.
We change the world through working with energy.
A popular conception of this idea has been the changing of the corporation through infiltrating its culture. Getting shamans inside corporations and changing the corporations culture or relationship to the outside world and market.... well that is how modern shamans may affect this society.
Shamans can serve mother earth but they can also work with manufactured energies. There are chemical shamans some of whom are toxic and others that may not be. Some shamans are more practical than others and may not give the conceptual framework behind the magick that they weave.
Others observe the weaving of the energies and get a better conceptual idea of their place in the world. Some wiccans will be shamans though not all shamans are wiccans. Shamans exist in all cultures just as energy exists in all cultures.
It is very difficult for a shaman in acctive addiction to function as a shaman though all shamans should get sick early in their development. This initial sickness or wound, the shaman initiates by healing themself from

Shamanism and Contrasting Ideologies
It dawned on my that both Alli and McKenna are modern Shaman's. I failed, of course to mention anything in regard to the orginal shamans, or the the way the role of the shaman has evolved into more functional ideologies. Alli and McKenna represent fringe culture and also a need to easternise the west or westernise the east. This is in part due to a need to equalise shamanism across cultures, or maybe some sort of egoic drive. Alli is happy to critise zen or indeed try and poke fun at its strange logic I can't work out why other then some sort of need to prove he has superior intelluct. McKenna wants a quick high, he disregards meditation for drugs. His point in logic rather humourous "I meditate and nothing really happens or it happens only for those who beileve... If you take mushrooms it happens regardless if you beileve it or not". However neroscience does proves a direct relationship between meditation and happiness in the brain and it also proves a direct relationship between Schizophrenia and mushrooms. Meditation never sent someone to th looney bin on its own.
In both cases shamans advocate an arguement for excess - in terms of activities and exploration of reality - they claim modern life is a smorges baord of ideas - try what works and throw out what doesnt.
Now I thought I should contrast this to toaism - which is the ancient shamanic practise of the chinese. It involves the principles of yin-yang. In fact yin-yang as dialectic principles can claim to map all of reality. I wont go in to it however it is a claim the toaist makes. They also put forward a strong case for simplisty. That is through discipline of the will and mind - one obtains a perfection in seeing reality for what is it. That one sees the unity of life the universe in all its maginificance. A cultivation of years of experince....yet our modern day shamans claim this can be achieve through one acid trip.
Maybe it can be - but toaism is older then christainty and underlies part of the thinking of the most powerful country now on this planet (China, i really dont think you can claim America is anymore). Whilst the 8 circuit model is damn cool - sometimes it needs to be put in its place as it is only a map. yin-yang is a a compass.

More Shamanism Paradigm Discussion
I've now read through Angel Tech for the second time. I'm realizing with that as well what I novice I am when it comes to interrupting these systems and actually applying them effectively. It’s funny though Alli is really does not advocate much drug use in fact he tends to opt for alternatives to. The book itself suggests that its techniques are for consciousness raising without the use of drugs.
This seems to run counter to much thought around the perception of what a shaman is. The notion of the vision quest or psychedelic experience is pretty much part of the shamans role in guiding individuals towards a enlightening experience that re-orientates their world view and starts them on a new path to truer wisdom or a greater attuning to the sole.
I recall in a lecture given by Terrence Mckenna who is probably the most famous modern shaman of today, (he died over 10 years ago now) he stated an almost elitist view that people who had psychedelic experience and part took in these substances where in fact speeding up evolution and superior to those that didn't. Although he died of brain cancer which he thought was from substance abuse, his doctors did not conclude a link to his substance use. I think Terrence although possibly the most eloquent speaker on the topic of psychedelics placed to much emphasis on their use and indeed even tried to argue consciousness evolved from their use.
I guess my point is these two individuals show quite differing definitions of shamanism in what they preach as their learning's and pathways to enlightenment.

Shamanism
Shamanism --- I felt some definition is appropriate -- to remind myself constantly about the importance of the guarding of ones soul and the souls of those around us. Society is becoming more and more soul less, I think now more then ever are we engaged in a day-to-day psycho-spiritual war and most of us aren't even aware of the playing field or the rules. Shamans represent the figure or individual that guides there tribe/people to salvation. There are many definitions of Soul as well. but essentially it is that part of us that is the metaphysical personality. To be in touch with and recognize our soul is to be in touch with are spiritual beings and gives us the ability to operate in the 8th circuit. Spiritual Intelligence.
Shamans represent the oldest profession ever recorded. Their profession is found in Paleolithic art, sculpture and funerary objects. It is also found deeply inscribed on our psyche as a species. For the shaman is the steward of the soul, the being who facilitates the journey from birth, through all of life’s transitions, and into death and beyond. This is a journey that defines our human status in the world. It is the stuff of myth and memory as the shaman journeys with us and beyond, unfolding the stories of lives and possibilities in the service of our realization and healing.
Shamanism is an anthropological term referencing a range of beliefs and practices regarding communication with the spiritual world. [2] A practitioner of shamanism is known as a shaman, pronounced /ˈʃɑːmən/, /ˈʃeɪmən/, (|ˈshämən; ˈshā-|) noun (pl. -man(s)).[3]
Shamanism encompasses the belief that shamans are intermediaries or messengers between the human world and the spirit worlds. Shamans are said to treat ailments/illness by mending the soul. Alleviating traumas affecting the soul/spirit restores the physical body of the individual to balance and wholeness. The shaman also enters supernatural realms or dimensions to obtain solutions to problems afflicting the community. Shamans may visit other worlds/dimensions to bring guidance to misguided souls, to separate evil spirits from human souls, or to ameliorate illnesses of the soul caused by foreign elements. The shaman operates primarily within the spiritual world, which in turn affects the human world. The restoration of balance results in the elimination of the ailment.
Nerville Durvey comments on this -

Yet our dominant western culture is hardly supportive in this regard. We are surround by an urban technology which has done its best to demystify the world. Stanley Hopper has written, appropriately, of the 'impoverishment of symbols' from which we have all been suffering and notes that in our consumer culture, mythological traditions have been so inverted that -
Ahura Mazda is known today as an electric light bulb, the spirit Mercury is the name of an automobile and Pegasus, splendid in the antique sky, though recognized almost everywhere today is recoginsed nevertheless in the diminished guise of the flying Red Horse - trademark for a gasoline.
In essence capitalism although it produces an array of fantastic products that seem to impress us. The pace, speed and volume of production leaves no space for mystery or myth - rather it sucks the soul out of what it produces in order to push forward continued innovation. No space is left for appreciation or understanding of culture. It is all illusion.

The Text
Got a copy of Prometheus Rising. Had read that first chapter before and have done the money experiment. I did this for nearly a year a few years back and was doing $50 notes. I found coins and notes every time I left the flat and a few of those findings were $50 notes. I could not help but attract money to me when I hit the streets so I know this stuff works.
This influx did come at some expense to myself. It drained me of a lot of energy each time I went out. On one occasion I got an inner 'feeling' to walk and I found $115 in a deal bag. The laws of attraction work only too well
The text itself is very easy reading and very enjoyable to read. I must work through it more and work in with Angel Tech a bit more.
My counsellor said to me the other day that she knows that the mind exists everywhere and not just in one's head. She said a lot of the concepts were not of her grain and she said that a lot of it is along her understandings. That was in Angel Tech. So far I like RAW. I am in strong agreement with what he seems to be about.
The attraction stuff is spot on and I am probably working with it quite strongly on a subconscious level for what women are currently in my life.

Danger signs
Am i in danger?
Danger according to my first system needs and threats? Second system? Third, or fourth??
Fear rises from the pit of my stomach up my truck and back... stores in the shoulders? down the legs? is it trying to get me to act?
Direct danger to the physical, the body, the temple of my experience... I must act. I must move or make an essential decision to preserve my living vehicle (the robots physical shell).
Danger to the emotional self... rejection from a love interest. rejection from someone in whom i trusted or hoped to trust. denial of access to someone who once protected me emotionally (death of an elder)...
Danger to my concept of self? Who am I and how do I see myself as being? What if others don't see me that way and what if others want to attack my view of myself or others' views of me?
Danger to my ability (right) to social mobility...? This UX is where your feelings in the hands etc... would be very useful. Should you be getting physical signals when you are in danger in any of these 4 systems of self, then you are operating on a highly attuned system much like the ninja should. Like an inbuilt alarm system...
Maybe you can set up wards external to your self so that when activated a signal comes back to your body warning you of an external danger on the move. The Japanese did apparantly have such an art... haragei. hara is the centre or the spirit and spiritually you would be able to detect danger to your self.
How does one work toward and develop this UX?

Energy Systems
I am now definitely certain of a direct relationship between sensations in the body being related to emotional states. I have been playing around with energy circulation techniques for ages, since a 6 month stint of full time tai chi - which barely scratched the surface of the possibility of what energy workings can do.
There is a book by taylor ellwood - inner alchemy which takes a modern approach and blends energy systems - which i must look at one day. I haven’t read it. Anways its definitely a mine field of random research and various gurus and experts proclaiming what works. So it is almost impossible to find a system that is proven scientifically.
Probably the most important practical things I have worked out are :
I have found that anxiety and fear is almost always represented by a build up of nasty feeling energy in the pit of the stomach. I have also found non-resistance to this energy and simply feeling the sensation by going into a trance like state almost always cures this issue. When I say trance like I mean just feel the sensation and go with it, don't try and assume your feeling or emotions to be caused by anything. Slowly the energy untwists like a tangled set of head phones or shoe laces. Suddenly you start to know why you felt those feelings and that they no longer really have such an intense effect. This is described in the Power of Now - Eckhart Tolle - highly recommend read but you need to filter out the pseudo spiritual jargon and sift out the technique.
Today I had another discovery - ANGER- the above technique does not help with anger or depressive states only fear and anxiety. Anger had been frustrating me because no matter what I seem to always click into passive aggressive mode about work and life. The same stuff like why do I have to go to work in the morning or people who just irritate me. Most of us have passive anger. What I finally worked out is that anger is stored in the hands and feet. Well this is for me anyways. I realise as well any depressive states I have are a result of storing to much anger. This is why my fist always clenches or curl my toes in frustration. I looked up hand chakras online and got this :
"The chakras in the palms of the hands are often (incorrectly IMHO) relegated to minor status. These chakras transmit healing energy and receive energetic information from the universe. The palm chakras are used to channel healing energies to yourself and others and to receive impressions of the energy of a room, person, situation, etc. Activation and awareness of These chakras makes a major difference in the quality of life. They can often be opened by intention. Practice in becoming aware of the energy of the palm chakras is a good place to start if you are at all interested in energy work and spiritual healing. or in any of the psychic arts. healing chakras may also activate in the fingertips and elsewhere in the body. The chakra in the palms of the hands are powerful sensors and channels for vibratory information and energy . many adhere to the convention that the left palm receives or senses energy and the right palm sends it out. My experience is that both hands will send and sense energy. you can improve and focus these functions by using intention and by allowing the input and out flow"
Well that does not back up my theory. However it may be that my anger was instead blocking the palm charka's and thus making me destructive rather then a healer which is my intention. Back to the discovery - I applied the same technique to my hands and feet as I did for the stomach knots for fear and bang my anger disappeared very very quickly.
It seems I may have cured my passive aggression. Mind you I think rather then remove my anger it makes me feel in control of it – it’s not gone just it doesn’t overwhelm me, and things will always irritate me it’s also not instant so if anaggressive rushis triggered then there is not enough time to kick in this technique. However I’m hoping it will stop me doing anything destructive. This I think is a serious break through. Normal therapy would be to find the issue of the anger but sometimes the cause will never go away, in just done to us does not get healed because we forgive people, that just lets us move forward, the emotion of anger remains (and it cannot be repressed). A job we hate cannot not always be changed, a relative or neighbour can always be a prick but if you can stop the hating feeling the you can start healing. So I am becoming more and more certain emotions and energy are very closely related and stored in the body. Cleansing this energy and increasing health will increase quality of internal life and thoughts I am certain....it is a more direct path to happiness then most I have tried.....must get back to training the tai chi.

BELIEF SYSTEMS
BELIEF SYSTEMS & THOUGHT PARADIGMS
Yep, these have gotta be thrown around and fleshed out and we can start building something from where we are all coming from. What is the belief system from which I best emerge or that best fits who I am?
I like the mythologies of the Vikings, the Celts, the Egyptians and many others. And where magick is concerned I like these cultural belief systems for characterisation and romantacism (both 5th house things in modern astrology).
I take it we are looking at an 8 'system' model (I prefer the term system to circuit). Angel Tech would start us with the PHYSICAL system or Grade 1 as Ali puts it.
Various belief systems are going to have a differing approach to Grade 1...

Supply Chain
I don't like losing copies of my magick tomes. Nothing like needing to cast a spell and finding that my spell book has been borrowed by someone who has had a permanant feeble mind or forget spell cast upon them [metaphorically speaking]
I have a few copies of Angel Tech spare at the moment. It is a very useful book. I will be chasing up Prometheus Rising in the next week. I may get several copies of that though Angel Tech is not in print anywhere around the world at the moment. According to Paul from Polyester I got the last 10 copies in store on the planet. So when I run out it will be 2nd hand bookstores. I will not be giving up my personal copy which I work from.
I have sent copies to friends in the US as it is not available there. The US has some sinister laws where publishing and freedom of information is concerned from what I remember.

Grade School
I tend to look at things from a grade school perspective. I have given about 10 copies of Angel Tech away now.... sometimes I can manage to refuse remuneration and do the "pay it forward" thing. The Universe gives me what I shall have. The first grade is about the physical and health is the main pattern. I have done some big work on this and I imagine I will be honouring my sacred temple until the day that I say thankyou for having been able to wear it.
I have about 4 copies of the text at the moment + 1 that my counsellor is having a peruse of. She should love it. Otherwise its back to the loony bin for me. The beautiful thing is no matter how long they have or will lock me up for I can never let thm in to at least one little thing in my mind for ever. Even when they did break my will I just went loony and then there was no use for me.
I am Coyote. I am higher than the stars. I am an ally worth having. I am an enemy hard to catch let alone out gun. I was once asked can I run and I simply must say, "Yes I can." I work on my robot like I work on my vehicle for they both get me round howsoever I may navigate.
Navigation is important to me, whether by the stars or the needle of a compass and map. We must be going somewhere but may the gods help us if we ever proclaim knowledge of our final destination. The journey is the destination. Progress and not perfection.
